Wednesday,
January’s 31st Leo Full Moon is something quite special. First, it is what we call a Blue Moon. A Blue
is the second Full moon in a calendar month. Second, it is a Supermoon. A Supermoon is when
the moon is at closest point to the Earth. This Phenomenon is known as an
extreme perigee, making the Moon appear even larger than the normal Full Moon.
Lastly, it is a Total Lunar Eclipse. Know as a Totality, It is the rarest of Eclipses;
First such moon in a 150 years. A Totality
is when the Moon will be hidden in the Earth’s dark umbra shadow. It won’t
totally disappear but it will take on a reddish hue, an effect known as the
scattering.
What
does for us astrologically? Let’s focus on the basics; The Planet (Moon), Sign
(Leo), and significant Phenomenon (the Eclipse).
The Moon, as a planet in astrology, is concerned with needs such
as food, shelter, nurturing, security and emotional support. It also governs psychic abilities, intuition
and feelings. It is the primary or first emotional energy of the zodiac or the cardinal Water sign.
Next, well talk about the sign, Leo. In astrology,
Leo represents authority and rulership and memer of this sign are natural
leaders of the zodiac. A fixed sign that
values order and knowledge of position, Leo, at its best, can be generous,
loyal and honorable. At its worst, it can be over-confident, egotistical and
inflexible.
The Super
Blue Blood will begin at 2:51am PST/ 5:51am EST. It will take on a red color
and will be wholly visible to the people on North America West coast, across
China, Japan and most of Australia. Lunar Eclipses, in astrology, draw
the attention of the unconscious concerns directly to the conscious mind,
making us more aware of our emotions and feelings.
The Leo Full Moon or the Snow moon as it is known to Native America
cultures, will ask you to explore what position or roles you must undertake to
meet your needs. Do you need to nurse or nurture or to be so. Need to get
some emotion matter off your chest? Use this time to share your feeling for
release and catharsis. For the next three days, determine the roles that you
must play to get your needs met. Do you need to take charge? Do you need support?
Express your needs and be ready to own them.
Again, Full moons lend their waxing energies to endeavors and
activities, making them good times to start businesses, projects and emotional
commitments. The best use of the Snow Moon energy is for making plans and
preparations in regard to the coming year. Because of the doubling effect of
the perigee and chaos of the eclipse, the caveat at this time is to not be overly
emotional and work to remain both calm and grounded. Fiery Moons, such as Leo
have a flair for dramatic, so play it cool.
Leo, what are your needs and what must you do to fulfill those needs?
The next three days will highlight such concerns and how to remedy them. Play
to your strengths and acknowledge the needs you’ve neglected.
Aquarius, the Full moon may provide a new role for you to play. Rather
than seek consensus, you may need to focus upon your own requirements, deciding
upon what needs you’ve neglect for the sake of others.
Taurus and Scorpio, the Moon may urge you to address some concern you been
conveniently overlooking. The matter seem small, but like all things effected
by a lunar transit, you’ll find there is much more to it than you previously
thought.
As we bask in the glow of the Leo
Snow Moon and the rare Super, Blue Blood Moon eclipse, take the time to better
understand who you are and what you need. Inner strength comes when we nurture
and feed our inner resources.
